Studio Membership

Our Studio Membership is designed for independent ceramic artists looking for a dedicated space to create, experiment, and develop their individual style and techniques outside of our regularly scheduled classes.

Membership is intended for artists with a basic working knowledge of clay and glazing who are comfortable working independently. Members have access to our studio space, equipment, and designated work hours, along with a monthly firing allowance.

Please note: Studio Membership is currently full. If you are interested in becoming a member, please inquire about applying to join our waitlist for future openings.

Membership Includes

  • Studio access during designated hours when classes and programming are not in session

  • Access to studio equipment

  • Up to approximately 3 cubic feet of firing per month (three 26" half-kiln shelves)

  • The opportunity to work independently in a creative community

A Few Things to Know

Studio Membership is intended for personal creative work rather than production pottery. Members are responsible for cleaning their workspace, following studio safety and etiquette guidelines, and respecting other artists and their work.

Clay must be purchased from or approved by The Clay CoOp. Outside clay and glazes/materials require prior approval and may be subject to additional firing fees. Members are also responsible for properly labeling and storing their materials and keeping work within designated storage limits.

Membership does not include instruction or technical consultation, and members may not use the studio during classes or workshops.

Interested in becoming a member? Although membership is currently full, we welcome inquiries from artists interested in applying for a future opening.

Practicum

Participation in this program will give you access to The Clay Coop Monday through Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm. Each day will begin with an optional hour for instructor check-ins, demonstrations, or critiques. Participants may choose to work in both Hand Building and Wheel Throwing, as long as they have sufficient experience to work confidently without supervision. The program will run for 16 weeks, with an option to sign up for 8-week segments. Those enrolled in the full 16-week program will have a guaranteed spot in subsequent cycles. All participants may opt into the next session/cycle by making a full payment 2 calendar weeks before the next cycle begins. Spots will be opened to the waitlist if current participants choose not to make this payment. The cost of the program is $825 for 16 weeks and $450 for 8 weeks not including materials.
