“The Classroom” is a learning facility for people interested growing their skills with the assistance of an instructor. We will be providing high-level education by established artists from the clay community. Classes will range from beginner’s skills to advanced techniques, and will explore the diversity of clay. Our goal is to provide a guided self-discovery in ceramics by utilizing targeted learning based on feedback from the students.

Handbuilding
There are three primary handbuilding methods: pinch, slab, and coil. Each can be used on its own or combined to create functional and sculptural forms. In our handbuilding classes, we begin with strong foundations in materials and technique, then teach strategies for combining methods to create work that is truly greater than the sum of its parts. We also offer hybrid classes that begin with handbuilding and progress to the wheel. For new students, we recommend starting with handbuilding because it builds a deep understanding of clay’s properties, which is incredibly helpful when you move on to the wheel

Wheel
Our wheel classes build a strong foundation rooted in physics. In Intro to Wheel, students learn wedging, centering, pulling, and shaping while developing muscle memory and fine motor skills. There is no instant gratification here, and that is a good thing. You will see your progress take physical form in your own work.
Beginner and Intermediate Wheel reinforces the fundamentals while introducing the nuance of form and function. In Advanced Wheel, we focus on alteration, planning and execution, and purposeful repetition to build consistency and scale.

Workshops
We offer two types of workshops:
1. One-time handbuilding classes
Perfect for new or returning students, friends, or couples. In a single two-hour session you will create a functional or sculptural piece. You will choose from a selection of house glazes, and we will finish and fire your work. Return in three to four weeks to pick up your food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and microwave-safe piece.
2. Skill-building workshops
Designed to complement our regular classes, these focused sessions dive into specific topics such as glaze application, surface decoration, handle design, or introductory sculpture.
